Citizenship Question on the 2020 Federal Census

The 2020 Census will include a question about citizenship. Here is an article from NPR to help you learn more about this new question.

An accurate census count is essential to California children’s well-being. Here are is one way to help: Submit comments on the citizenship question.

The current Administration’s inclusion of a citizenship question in the 2020 Census will dramatically reduce participation by immigrant communities, resulting in an inaccurate census. The Census Bureau published a notice on June 8 that allows public comment on the citizenship question. Send a strong, clear message opposing the citizenship question by submitting comments before August 7. Advocates across the country are seeking to submit 100,000 comments on the citizenship question – let’s ensure California makes a big contribution towards that goal!

Please take action on the "Gag Rule" blocking access to preventive and reproductive care

The Trump-Pence administration is pushing a harmful “Gag Rule” on health care providers that participate in the Title X Family Planning Program, the nation’s program for affordable birth control and reproductive health care that 4 million people rely on each year. The rule also eliminates requirements that, for decades, have required providers in the program to counsel patients about all of their health care options, including parenting, adoption, and abortion.

This rule now opens up the program to entities that refuse to provide full information for religious or moral reasons even when that information may be lifesaving.
The “Gag Rule” is a clear attack designed to block patients from obtaining care from Planned Parenthood, leaving many with nowhere else to go. The bottom line is people will not get the health care they need. They won’t get birth control, cancer screenings, STD testing, and treatment, or even general well-person visits.

Planned Parenthood Northern California is committed to protecting health care access by forcing a delay of the “Gag Rule” implementation. The Department of Health and Human Services has a responsibility to respond to every comment received on the “Gag Rule.” Our goal is to have 1 million comments, and we need your help to reach that goal. I am urging every supporter, patient, and friend to stand with Planned Parenthood and take action!
How you can take action:

Thank you for your support!
